Reunion Dinner??

It was Monday, the first day of Chinese New Year, and like the Chinese we also celebrated the night 'Reunion Dinner' *wink* Who would want to miss the stress free traffic in KL city during this festival Night live. The traffic was kinda quiet and peaceful. We don't see this often, only on the first few days of Aidil Fitri and Chinese New Year. Taking advantage of the situation and the festive mood my Oldest Son Syaz decided to made a reservation at Monte's Restaurant in Bangsar Shopping Centre. The tradition or one of his commitment to his parents and siblings during end and early of the year...commitment in terms of food, hahaha. Anyway, thank you Son, it's your way of spoiling us. He always get the baby Sister to choose the best eating place for us. Once, she got the green light..of course the most lavish and what ever she had in mind at that time. To me, I do not interfere what they have between them. I love to see my children having healthy discussion. The eldest are supposed to guide/help them if they need one, and the younger ones are supposed to respect. Discussions bring them together...right!
Okay.. lets get back to Monte's..

I wasn't in the mood for food *upset tummy* but it's ok..I'l order something light, like Salad or fish. I love Western Food. Well, I took both anyway, hehe...Seafood Salad *sharing it with the rest* and Norweigian Salmon Steak... Hb had Grilled Lamb, and Syaz had Grilled Cod fillet. Fifa, like always go nuts over lamb had Prawns and grilled Lamb Combo while Syaf had Rib Eye steak. The Escargot..O.M.G, turned me off..I don't care if the French loves it but still in my mind its the crawling siput babi..yulk! But not to my kids they eat almost anything..*halal* Syaz ordered Nachos with Chicken filling that really tasted like in Indian restaurant..tak suka. The combination of western and Indian that does not give me an Umph..

:
:
First, came the Starter, the non other than Sweet bread.

Then, the appetizer Nachos with Chicken filling...tasted really Indian with lots of curry leaves...

Then..my Seafood Salad. Ohhlala..sedap! With octopus, salmon, prawns and Caviar..
Hmm..it's to die for! I love Salad.

Then came another appetizer. Well, I don't like..Escargot..

Hb's..grilled Lamb. Look simple but very tasty...Father and daughter has the same kind of liking...

Mine...Norwegian Salmon Steak.

Then came..Syaz's Grilled Cod Fillet. The Sibblings were wondering, why on Earth, he ordered it..Hehe, he's on strictly diet f.y.i..when you're high in uric acid, what else could you order.

Wah!! a bit too elaborate, of course she knows what she wants..my Princess F..
Mix and Match Prawns and Lamb.

Lastly, came the Rib Eye Steak for Syaf..*the one who's supposed to be the hungry Tiger*
Hehe..padan muka, the last to have the food!

Haiya... we had fun with the food and the non crowded Outing on our Reunion Dinner on the night where the road of Kl City belonged to us..
Adios.. and before I stop I wanna share pictures of cake that I baked on Sunday..
Cheese Marble Brownies..

Flourless Orange, Ginger and Almond Cake

This ia a short entry..
Sharing my Flourless Orange Almond Ginger Cake. Got the recipe from the Net. It's a classic Morroccan recipe. A simple ingredient cake with only eggs, sugar, oranges, ginger and almond..gluten free cake and *one bowl method* The simmering of the oranges took 2 hrs and the baking was about 1 hr. As I mentioned a few days ago, the cake has got a very special taste. And the recipe I got has fresh and crystallized ginger added to it. Well, I can't describe, how wonderful the taste was. The texture was moist and dense. I baked it on Saturday and I had guests , served them.. they love it to bits! I told ya'll...I will get this recipe in no time...Yeah! by half the day, nothing was left from the cake..gone!

Top with Crystalized Ginger.

Am baking Marble Cheese Brownies, peeps..When the kids are around...so baking, baking, baking!
Adios..Happy Holiday!!

Hmm..what a day!

Jammed, jammed everywhere! The traffic were very bad, as we all know that Chinese New Year is around the corner. Slow but moving, thank God! As I dropped Hb at University Hospital, my daughter and me proceed to Bangsar Village. And to our surprised lots of parking awaiting us. Macam tak ramai yang bershopping. We went to Jaya Groccer, I suka that place, you could find almost everything...but expensive. I was looking for Baby Potatoes, and hairan jugak the price was reasonable compared to other places, strange kan.. And as I was passing the beverages section I stumbled upon the very familiar Coffee, love of my life my 'International Roast' Coffeee..hee, happy. It's 500g, and I've never seen it here in that size, only in Australia. Normally 200g. Itu pun dah susah nak dapat. The price is 10rm more than Australia..I was introduced to this coffee from my Singaporean friend many years ago. And since then I stick to this wonderful coffee. It's origin country is Australia. It's mild in taste and gentle to my stomach *adakah* not like Nescafe, berangin. I wonder why in Singapore the price is very much cheaper than here..and some other things too. Hmm..whoever ke Singapore tu, saya nak kirim ya, heee.

With smile on my face having bought the Coffee, we stopped at Plan B. Just felt like having a cuppa of *flat white coffee* and craving for something sweet *flourless Orange Cake* while Fifa had Lemon Tea. We only had that as we will have lunch with Hb later. The Cake tasted sooo nice.. No flour and no butter but Ground Almond and oranges. Moist and soft and that tangy taste..lovely. I will look for this recipe as soon as possible.

Later that evening...our Dinner.
Roti Jala and Chicken Curry.

Last night...
Crossant with chicken breast, prawn, fried potatoes, and sauteed french beans

And previous night .....
Teppanyaki and salami with bread.
Teppanyaki tu makan begitu saja..just like salad, bread and salami as Sandwiches...oh, of course kenyang.

Adios...have a wonderful long weekend. And Happy New Year to my fellow Chinese Friends.

'Brunch'... Recite Quran Get together..

Hi... I am back again with another new entry. This time I wanna share my Mengaji Day that took place at my house last Sunday. Started at 9.30 until about 11.30 morning. Menus that I prepared was something for late breakfast and early lunch or 'Brunch'. Porridge was a good choice, Tortillas with salsa was requested and I baked Black Pitted Cherry Tea Cake for Dessert.

The many commitments to the family, will never lead me anywhere...but I reminded myself to give some quality time for me not only I become knowledgeable in reciting Quran in a correct way. But also, a chance to socialize with one another *neighbors*, sharing what not about anything in particular *hope it does not lead to gossip* There are many ways to be good Muslims, attending to Majlis Ilmu is one of the things that required in Islam... *never too late tho, when the age is catching up. I love socializing in any sort, so why not make a habit to organize Gathering unsur2 Agama. To be a better person is to learn through previous experience or examples from other people's goodness and mistakes. Always be humble, as we know there are people better, smarter and richer than us and be easy to change towards the better of humankind. Eh..terlebih pulak! Not wrong to remind one another, ya...
Well, not only that, Food... yes we get to rasa every one's specialties during our meet on every Sunday. Don't you think our lives has to be filled with activities..absolutely yes! kalau life not fill with anything, you'll be miserable, stress and many more that can make us withdraw from society.

The Porridge is in the white Turrine.

Tortillas
Black Pitted Cherry Tea Cake with Sauce

Thai Style Fried Aubergine, to be eaten with Porridge.

Oops...I thought no fattening food for me this week!! Habis...
Adios..

Thursday Treats..

It was a marvelous day outing jalan2 dan cari makan with Hb and my daughter to Shogun at Sunway Pyramid. Hmm, as a food hunter and where food is concerned, I tell you, this place is Heaven. We were there at 12.30 pm till 2.00pm, can you imagine that.. having our own sweet time enjoying all the selections of food. Yes, more on Japanese Delicacies and also you could enjoy Chinese, Korean , Siamese and etc... The ambience and setting are definitely Japanese. Well basically, customers are spoilt for choice. When come to think of it, berapa sangat la kita boleh makan, the most is 2 plates, or perhaps 3 or.. whatever la!
