Lot's to share..

Asalamualaikum..
This time I have lots to share ...
Time not only occupied with the housekeeping butttt hahaha... with new iPad in the house. Bigger and clearer with Instagram. There were times, I just couldn't be bothered the mess but the kitchen and the garden was where I spent the most. And this few days, hanging on the phone with my siblings and Mum. Hot topic..SPM's result. Congratulations to my nieces for the great achievements.

24th, March..
Today, Sunday, My sister Leeza came with her two kids and our dearest cousin Roza.
It was a pleasure having them..but a little tense, as you can imagine..overslept after Subuh til 8.30 and was only informed of my cousin's coming. This is the time I wanted to cry out loud for a Maid...hahaha, on second thoughts, forget it!!!
Of course food has to be prepared before they come. So, be a Maid before the guest arrived and a Madam when they are around. I cooked something light and easy *Marinara Spaghetti and had already baked  2 chocolate cakes, one for my darling girl and one for my sister. Hoohoo..I think this was my best Chocolate Cake ever..*smiling proudly*

Fifa's Birthday
Special wishes for a special person don't need special occasions.
We wish you the best of everything every single day of your live,
dear daughter. But today's your Birthday and we wish you the
double of everything.
Happy Birthday dear daughter!!

Happened to be my daughter Fifa's birthday on this day..guess what I cooked?
Baked Turkey..specially bought for her by her brother Syaf and baked by none other than Mum dearest..more than two and a half hours baking time. We had it during dinner time.

Roast Turkey with Mango Salsa

Last week..
Food.. nothing special, just for the sake of filling the tummy.

Lunch on Friday, Masak lemak Ikan and Tom Yam.

Once in a while, it's nice to have just vegetables soup for dinner.

Focaccia with Beef patties and salad

Last Monday night..
Those were the days that I and Hb were craving for Teh tarik or some titbits after dinner, we would go out and made that as a habit. But now, the craving has long gone... having to be out of the house after Maghrib is not my thing anymore. But son Syaz managed to persuade me to accompany him for a cuppa at Paparich.
It's mother and son bonding time.. there's always lots to share. Not only being the eldest but has been mummy's chaperone ever since. I had lemon with honey.  Syaz let me try the Mantou Bun with egg mayo. Hmm..soft cottony texture.

Quality time with my Syaz at Paparich.

Requested from Syaz..Lempeng Pisang...*remembering the old old days
Lempeng in banana leaves*

Last Sunday...Cooking with full heartedly...ambik kau!

Wednesday 20th, March.. at Mala's breakfast Get together.

Well, I hope I have made all my viewers filled with satisfaction with the food displayed.
Anyway lastly, do stay healthy, eat wisely and moderately.
Adios..

Supplement..Food..50th Birthday

Asalamualaikum...
Do you take any supplements? I am wondering whether I should be taking daily supplement like Multivitamin at my age. Or maybe I should just eat well and do the right exercise just to keep fit. I know some friends who has been taking supplements especially multivitamin for many years and not only healthy but looking good. And friends who did not consume but eats the right food, also looking good. I had this topic discussed with friends during my Mengaji session last few nights. Most of them takes Multivitamin. Hmm...but for different people works on different supplements. They say Multivitamin is highly acidic. That's not good news for me especially with sensitive stomach!
First move, you have to consult yr doctor what vitamins are you lacking. That way you know you have consumed sufficient amount of the required essential nutrients in the body. Then only we could get what supplements the body needs.
How sure are we that vitamins over the counters in pharmacy really telling the truth or only false promise. You never know right, they can write anything they like. The best is to get the basic needs.
I have been taking Vitamin C, Calcium, and  Cod liver oil.

What I read recently about Cod Liver Oil which is rich in Vitamin A and D..  if you take too much of those is a risk...it gives me a fright. I will at least maintain my vitamin C, Calcium and EPO. Evening Primrose Oil has lots of benefit for women my age..pre menopause. I had stopped taking it when I started on Cod Liver Oil. Do I sound like a freak or paronoia? Guess not...just being inquisitive!
I need to come to terms with the supplements that I am taking now, rather than becoming so greedy wanting to be so healthy and end up overdose with pills...huhu.

Meanwhile..

This Pasta Prawn Olio we had for lunch today. Ya...now Weekend has becoming busy cooking days for me.. where we have our meals with the kids. They don't to eat at home during the week days.

The picture above was our dinner last night...at 8.45pm *normally dinner before 7pm* I cooked rice and fried salmon, and Rendang. Aah! with the sudden craved for nasi at the wrong time..ikut aje laa. The Rendang was cooked by my darling girl during lunch whilst I was away with friends *wink*

Singapore Meehoon some nights ago
Sweet Corn and Pineapple Muffins for Tea last Saturday

 Beef Wrap

Last weekdays were totally Jalan2 Cari Makan week. Kitchen close at lunch time, hehe. We had some things to attend to and it's better to eat out than to be like crazy cooking after errands done. Preparing food for dinner is a must thing to do..dah malas nak keluar after 6pm. It can be as simple as sandwiches or toasted bread with tuna or as it is plain. Kalau rajin tu, lain cerita.
Alhamdullillah, thanks to my Hb dearest... not a fussy eater.

On Wednesday we went to USJ 1 Giant and surprised indeed with the new facelift of the place I once used to go *betoi la CS, I loike the place* Some things that made us stopped for quite sometime at some section especially fish...prices were quite reasonable than pasar malam, pasar malam pun dah mencekik darah. We bought Senangin and there was Salmon that's selling so so reasonable.... I did not buy.. will always come again, no hurry burry.

Left, Hb had breakfast set with refillable Coffee and mine the Set lunch
with Honey lemon Tea
And before that we had our brunch at Tappers at G floor. Well, why bother cooking when you can get good offer and nice food for two person only mah!

Thursday, we decided to recky a cafe at Subang First SS15 for our friends bday gettogether.
Apalagi, kita yang menjamu selera at a place called S Kitchen next to the Cafe that I was searching.  How can we say No to such place. You feel like you were in a Fine Dining Restaurant. They served you well and what pleased us was..the price that starts at 12.90rm...cheap skate!! Set Lunch at 18++. Tapi kann, pusing kiri dan kanan...only us seated in there. What a pity! There are too many eating places nowadays with great competition amongst Restaurant owners. It's really a treat to eat out once in a while with special price waiting. Oh..not all the time. Cooking for two can be too time consuming, eat out..hassle free! *mempertahankan that guilty conscious*

Aha..don't you think for 18++ berbaloi? Once in a while laa kann.

Friday 15th May.
Austin Chase Cafe at Subang First SS15
We had breakfast there to celebrate friends who turned 50. Well, they need to be treated and to welcome them for being in the 5 series. It's half the century babe! ..and something to be proud of Oh yes..still look gorgeous for that age..peeweeett!!

The birthday girls
Standing, Fairus and sitting left, Rooslina and Lina.

Hahaa.. the birthday food, what do you expect..it's Breakfast Menu
and overflow Coffee*not to my liking*
but we ordered something extra..
Three plates of different Pasta..
and..
 ..three cakes on the house.

Okay peeps, have a good weekend and till the next entri..In Shaa Allah.
Adios..

Allergy...Plants and Get together

Asalamualaikum..
It's hot. The hot season is back! I do hope you peeps are well. Do drink plenty of water, as not to get dehydrated. The temperature had reached up to 38 degree Celsius last few days. Yesterday with heavy downpour in Subang and only few drops of rain at my place. But today, gloomy with humid air that makes you wanna splash yourself at my sister Intan's River Cottage.

Portugis Assam Steam Fish and fried Kacang Botol for lunch today
During these time..my lips are really dry and crack, so frequent with headache in the afternoon.
What more being out at 11am till 5.00 pm, it was unbearable even to look out through the window...and I would normally draw down the curtains. And rather leave my hanged clothes to be collected at late evening...biar lah luntur baju2 diampaian rather than I melt in the hot sun...*tak sampai hati nak buat gitu*

Baked Macaroni for mengaji on Wednesday night

My sinuses just got worst since I have been friendly with the broom which I had avoided all this time. Well, I do have a choice.. just close one eye! The garden and pavement around the patio need to be swept everyday or paling lama every two days....by then, bertepu debu.
Honestly, I can't stand the dust. I was prescribed anti histamine pills before the allergy attack. Sometimes I stopped, then continued again when I can't bear the allergy...phlegm/headache and itchy. I prefer not to be dependent on medicine...if possible.

 Homemade burger and sweet potato
Am lactose intolerance since my younger days. I have to reduce the intake of dairy products, sugar, chocolates and ice....*not stop completely, but to reduce*
Milk that actually increase phlegm in the throat. Yup..it's not 100% cured but at least I don't get the stomach pain/headache due to sinuses/itchy on the skin so often. Each time I had a few gulps of Coffee with milk, I didn't feel good...*unless coffee with creamer.. help! I am a coffee lover*
Coffee.. I must have..at least a cup a day, milk can be substitute with creamer *wink*

How can I avoid this Chocolate Ganache with Milk Tea...
too good to resist!
However, not all people has the same allergy towards certain food, different people reacts differently..I think. Don't worry, you can get other alternative for calcium, and it can be found in dark leafy green.

Enjoying Rice with home cook lunch lately...

Rice with Tiger Prawn Curry, Fried long beans, Fish soup and Salted fish

Rice with Gulai Masam ikan Kurau, Asparagus/Brocoli and
Tempe

Okay, lets proceed on to my garden.
Orchids of the week

Now, I love getting up early not only to avoid the hot sun but to do  gardening *one of the way to sweat* Huh, I went to Sungai Buloh to get some herbs and fertilizers, yes.. despite the hot weather. Kalau nak suatu, tak kira what comes your way.

2 pots of Oregano in the middle and 2 pots of Italian Basils

Rosemary

We left to Sungai Buloh as early as 10.00am and already back by 1.00pm, just get what I wanted and off back home after having our lunch outside. Oh dear, everything has gone up..I used to buy the herbs at 8.00 rm and now since it's written Organic on the pot, it's 12.90rm, giler mahal. I love to have my own vegetables and herbs garden at my backyard area, but my fingers is not green enough.

 Sweet Basil

Lettuce Basil

Cinnamon Basil, I planted about a month ago.
I bought mostly Basil.. a few types of them. Loving this herb... putting in my salads and pastas or as ulam ulaman with rice. It has a strong pungent smell and a slight minty taste.
Satisfaction to me..enjoying the variety of greens that goes into my cooking, not only having them as to beautify my garden.

Cootoo Get Together..
Belanga Cafe, Empire Subang on Friday 8th March.

The hostess for the day was Kak Non, sitting at third left.

Welcome to the 50's club!

Have a productive Weekend with your loving family..
See you next time..In shaa Allah.
Adios!

Brunch on Thursday morning....and more menus.

Assalamualaikum..
Back again....
Phew! what can I say..trying my fingers to type but words wouldn't come.. I have so many things to write but, like I was hit by Mental block. Not that I was emotionally on anything, maybe the lack of interest on the blogging again. I guess the new fad, Instagram fascinates me more.

Capek sekali pagi ini !! Why? It was none other than preparing food. I was up as early as 6.30 am right after solat and started kneading my bread. Like hard work ya.. I enjoyed it. It was for a potluck brunch with friends this morning at 10 am, my place. I had promised the girls to bake Peach/cherry Pie and bread and of course preparing drinks.

But you know, two menus were never enough *i thought* again  I overdo it..  And the girls too got carried away as usual. Lastly a heartiest breakfast for the six of us...too much lol. With the abundance of food spread on the table, we did not know where to start, but eating like there is no tomorrow.

I baked Chocolate Ganache cake, on the small round stand plate

Attention ladies!! Where are our table manners? Where do we start first? Well, never mind the table manners as we were all starving for food as the time was past 10 am...bismillah hirahmanirohim.

Eating while enjoying our conversation, the story telling...who talked and who listened and non stop putting food in the mouth without realizing how many kueh had gone inside our small tummy *wink*....haha.

Me, as a hostess, I just can't stay put on my chair...will make sure my guest were well taken care of..*that's one of my not relax attitude..bad bad bad*

After a garden tour and the helping out with dirty plates, they left at 1.00 pm. And of course the laughter and the loud noise must have made my Hb jealous..  Hb dearest did not come down at all as he was having sore eye...nothing serious, just some redness on the right eye and was already treated by a doctor. And a tray full of food brought up to him...to make him happy! Ooh la la..
Looking forward for another potluck brunch in my house again. Remember with the overflow coffee and tea, the food on our table and also not to mention the noise we could make...yup friends we do it again..In shaa Allah.

And here is a recipe for my dear Reen.. thank you for reading my blog. What is happening to your blog anyway? I love to see your craft work again..

Puff Pastry Peach Tart

INGREDIENTS
1 Sheet of frozen Puff Pastry dough (thawed for 20 minutes)
2 Cups of sliced Peaches (from 4 medium-size Peaches)
Flour for working with the Puff Pastry
2 TB of Butter
1 TB of Granulated Sugar + Powdered Sugar..( I added about 1 tbspn jam and spread on the pastry before putting the Peaches)
Whipped Cream or Ice Cream or (for serving)
METHOD
1. Place the thawed Puff Pastry on a floured baking sheet, unfold the Puff Pastry & roll it to a 8″ X 12″ rectangle. Working quickly, & keeping the Puff Pastry well floured, cut it into four 3″ X 8″ pieces. Place in the fridge for 10 minutes.
3. Slice the Peaches (skin on or removed) into a small bowl & add the Lemon Juice & Sugar. Carefully place the slices of Peaches overlapping down the center of each Pastry rectangle, leaving a 1/2″-inch border around the edges. Dot the top of the peaches with the Butter. Sprinkle the Puff Pastry & the Peaches with the reserved 1 TB of Sugar.
3. Place the rack in the center & preheat the oven to 400°F. Add the baking sheet & bake the Puff Pastry Tarts for 15 minutes, or until puffy & well browned.
4. Remove & allow to cool. Sprinkle with Powdered Sugar & prepare to plate.
5. Serve with Whipped Cream or Ice Cream.
Happy baking, Reen...
